Prickett Jones Director, Paul A. Fioravanti, Jr., Confirmed as Vice Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery

January 15, 2020

On January 15, 2020, the Delaware Senate unanimously confirmed Paul A. Fioravanti, Jr. as the next Vice Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery.  Mr. Fioravanti was nominated for the position by Delaware Governor John Carney earlier in the month.

Mr. Fioravanti has been our colleague at Prickett, Jones & Elliott for more than 20 years and served as the firm’s Managing Director from 2011 through 2014.  His practice focuses on corporate and business litigation involving disputes arising from mergers and acquisitions, fiduciary duty obligations, corporate governance principles, and alternative business entities such as limited liability companies and limited partnerships.

Often described as one of the world’s premiere courts for resolving complex business disputes, the Delaware Court of Chancery has a reputation for issuing prompt and thoughtful decisions on issues that impact the way business is conducted world-wide.  The Court also hears cases that affect the day-to-day lives of Delaware’s citizens, including matters involving real property rights, trusts and guardianships. The respect earned by the Court of Chancery over its 200-year history results primarily from the intelligence, hard work and sound judgment of the individuals who have been selected to serve as Chancellors and Vice Chancellors. Mr. Fioravanti’s confirmation continues Delaware’s long tradition of selecting persons of the highest intellectual and ethical standards to serve as judges on its courts.

Mr. Fioravanti is expected to begin his work on the Court in early February.  We congratulate our partner and friend on his well-deserved appointment as a Vice Chancellor.

Prickett Jones was founded in 1888 and attributes much of its longevity and success to the long-term relationships it has been fortunate to have with distinguished lawyers like Mr. Fioravanti.
